Family Pics Summer 2010

As ever, BJ's sister and her husband, Tasha and Tim Conner, do a fantastic job! We are so grateful for their great photography talents and their willingness to share them so readily. Thanks for the beautiful pics, guys! We love you!

For this photo shoot, we headed out behind the sheds on the Cox farm to this old rusty Boots Cox Dairy truck. Tucked away between the sheds and the river, nearly hidden by the weeds, is this beautiful old relic--a tribute to BJ's "Grandpa Boots". Boots Cox ran a dairy farm in St. George for many years and gave much to the St. George community in its early days. Though I never knew him well, he left a wonderful tradition of giving which has carried on to his children and grandchildren. I've always been impressed by the Cox family's willingness to give and share literally anything they have with others and I know they were taught that by this man.

My favorite story about Grandpa Boots is the one I hear every summer as we drive by the Sun Bowl in S.G. BJ always says, "I loved going to the rodeo as a kid with Grandpa. He would park is camper outside the Lion's Club for two weeks before the tickets went on sale in order to get first pick of the best seats. Each year he would purchase enough tickets for all of his children and grandchildren."
