Did you just say what I thought you said?

So, this afternoon, Benson and I were heading over to Grandma Mackey's house. He was doing his regular:

Jabber jabber jabber "car!", and Jabber jabber jabber "tree!"

Suddenly, he paused and pointed to a red car parked in the neighbor's driveway and said as clear as a bell:

"I see a car!"

Needless to say, I was floored! It was all I could do to not simply drop the child from sheer amazement.

So we were are Grandma Mackey's house and just about to head home when he piped right up again:

"I like choo choo!"
Immediately he realized that wasn't correct and corrected himself and said,
"I like that choo choo"

In all my language development classes I took, they taught that this was normal for second and third children; however, when it's your own child, it really takes you by surprise.

I'm having a difficult time convincing Rae that this actually happened... so dear, faithful blog-followers, I can use all the support I can get!

For Benson

You reach your dimpled hand for mine,
And lead me,
pointing, pointing, pointing.
I sit while you drive circles around me.
Cars, trains, tickles and we giggle in circles together.

"Ba Ba" you call me.
Ba Ba I am.

Dimples, giggles, peanut butter kisses.
Hold on to me, child.
Hold on to me as I hold on to you.

It's a GIRL!!

We are SO EXCITED to announce that we are having a GIRL! In the wake of a 12-boy-Cox streak, we are having a girl. So, you know, 13 boys in a row just wouldn't be lucky, now would it?

I don't know who is more excited, me, BJ, or my mom. She has been longing, aching, needing to sew girly, frilly, amazingly pink things. And now she can. By the time I was done with the call telling her our good news she had two dresses, two pairs of shoes, and pink fabric all in hand! Haha!

Seriously though, we are so very delighted. BJ especially has been wanting a little girl for a long time and it warms my heart already to imagine him with a baby girl all his own. He is so sweet and gentle, I know he will be a darling daddy to a little girl.

Can't wait to meet this little sweetheart!
