Family Pictures

On Friday, BJ finally had a day off after a string of 6 huge tests in 2 weeks. We hadn't seen much of him, so we proclaimed Friday our "family fun day". And what is more fun than family pictures?! Actually, we had a wonderful time. The people at Portrait Innovations were wonderful and kept McKay laughing through the whole session. Here are a few of my favorites. Which is your favorite?

Family Fun in St. George

Yeah, that's right, we're goin' to lunch. Mmmm, bring on the grub. Beck's excited! :)
We just ordered a platter. And we're happy about it.
Sup, boys! Dan and Dave peacein' out and waiting for the food. They got some tastey POG juice.
This is a little catch up from our last visit to St. George in March. McKay and I spent a week in St. George and one day the kids and Dad went to lunch at a new Hawaiian place downtown. The food wasn't my favorite (if you go, skip the fried bananas)but we sure had a good time!

Loungin'

Like any good baby, McKay loves his time in the bath. These pictures were taken about a month ago, before he discovered he could climb out of the bath. Since then, he has graduated to the big bath, where he crawls gleefully through the water, chasing his toys and dodging mom at every turn.
Just a little light reading.
"This is my favorite book. I'll let you borrow it when I'm done."

First Hair Cut

What a handsome big boy!
"I'll take that, that you very much!"

After a few comments such as, " Oh, what a beautiful little girl", we decided, it was time to part with a few of McKay's locks. It was a rite of passage I wasn't eager to make. It seems once a baby gets his hair cut, he looks more grown up and I want to keep my baby a baby for as long as possible. On the other hand, I think he looks adorable with his new do!
I did the honors while BJ held, distracted, and finally pinned McKay down. By both hook and crook we managed to trim up the hair without harming the baby!
Here is a look at the big boy!

Water Toys

While we were visiting Lety and Damon in Michigan last weekend, we went to the Hands-On kids museum there. There was an entire area reserved for children 4 and under. Part of that area was this water table. McKay and I both had fun playing in it. :)

General Coference

There's just nothing like it. The General Conference of the LDS Church is one of the highlights of church membership. Each time I view it, whether in the conference center or across the country, I feel like I am home. Though members view the conference the world over, there is a bond between us that strengthens and uplifts me.
The talks this conference were, as usual, exceptional. I loved Elder Holland's insights and tender descriptions of the Savior's atonement. I loved Elder Uchdorf's lessons on discipleship and Elder Oak's comments on service. President Monson spoke with such love and wisdom and bears his prophetic mantel with a quiet dignity that garners my love and respect. The slideshow tribute to him with the Tabernacle Choir singing "We Thank Thee, Oh God, For A Prophet" as beautiful! And, I swear, Elder Snow must have been sitting in the car with BJ and I last night, because his talk today addressed the very concerns I voiced to BJ not 24 hours ago.
Anyway, I have felt the peace of the Spirit resting in our home and in my heart all day as a result of the messages and music that we enjoyed through conference today. I'm so very grateful to live during this time when the voices of the Lord's servants can fill my home.

Hands-On Museum

Today BJ, McKay, and I spent the day at the Hands-On Museum with Lety, Colton, and Camden. We all had a great time exploring the many activities and science experiments at the museum. McKay LOVED playing on the giant piano. He would stand on a key, a note would sound, and he would laugh and laugh. It was so cute!

Here is Colton, gazing in amazment and delight at the Bernoulli exhibit.

Perhaps the biggest hit of the museum, the water table was a blast. The kids loved splashing in the water and playing with the, I must admit, way cool water toys. I even had fun! They also had these adorable rain jackets for the kids to wear while playing. We just had to get a picture.

The museum had something for everyone, even the little ones. There was an entire play area filled with padding and soft toys for the babies to play in. McKay and Camden had a ball, as you can see.

Just a parental note, it was pure delight to take McKay to the museum and see him delight in the new discoveries around every corner. He had a wonderful time playing and learning and it was so joyful to participate in his discoveries. Being a parent is the best!
